World Series Final Game Draws 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended matchup that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this marks the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s best playoff ratings after the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different tongues.
